Let Your Computer Store Your Health Records

Your doctor does it.  His regular laboratory does it.  The hospitals all do it.  And you know that your insurance provider does it.  So why don’t you keep track of all your pertinent health records and information digitally stored on the computer?  It’s not that hard to do, and with a little knowledge of a standard data base program or a good spreadsheet system it is possible for you to have all your pertinent medical history, lab test results, principal healthcare providers (including necessary contact information), and prescriptions and pharmacy contact information can all be stored in one central folder dedicated exclusively to your personal medical history.  Such information can include all your prescriptions, their individual amounts and expiration dates and refill information that you obtain from your pharmacist.

A part of your new computerized health record should contain a record of your prescriptions and drugs.  Your Walgreens pharmacist can provide the information necessary to request prescription refills  online, and you can have your doctor send them the prescriptions by email.  Walgreens can text you when prescriptions have been filled so you know to pick them up.  You can pay for them online or at the counter.   And you can use your Walgreens Groupon coupons and promo codes to buy any over-the-counter items at the same time that you get your prescriptions filled.  They can save you up to 50{f858078645ace186e8fe70041241ce48aca38bf89524e3f2ab0c0811a8993c23} off the price of various beauty and personal care items, or as much as 80{f858078645ace186e8fe70041241ce48aca38bf89524e3f2ab0c0811a8993c23} off on the Walgreens clearance items.

Information and records about your prescription expenses should be in your health folder.  Keep a spreadsheet that lists every medication, the date prescribed, the date filled, the amount and the frequency.  The number of refills and their dates, along with their cost and the amount covered by your insurance can be included.  When you stop taking a prescription you can store this information for the historical medical record, so when that information is needed it is readily available.  And you can also have the amount spent on prescriptions and other medical expenses available at your fingertips when you need it for tax purposes.  This might help increase your tax return and it will certainly make it a bit easier to file your taxes and get them off your mind.
